In my previous post, Swine Flu is for Losers, I failed to consider that I could end up being the loser. My mom will come to visit for a few days in a couple weeks and as long as she doesn't have a temperature when she gets off the plane, she'll be fine to travel around the country. However, after I meet up with my mom, I'll be quarantined from coming back to campus / teaching for eight days. Details to come. Should be interesting.
I'm not that concerned about Swine Flu. China seems pretty much on top of their shit when it comes to handling that kind of stuff. I've heard some crazy/awesome stories from people that were here during SARS. Everyone describes that situation like they were in some post-apocalyptic zombie movie: mass quarantines, body heat sensors at train stations and airports, everyone's terrified; all that shit sounds awesome to me.
I'm still a little dizzy from taking those pictures. I basically huffed superglue for about five minutes straight. The mask didn't help at all. I also accidentally glued some pig meat to my finger.
